Internet Explorer 9 Hits 2.3 Million Downloads in 24 Hours

Microsoft Internet Explorer 9 Hits 2.3 Million Downloads Within the first 24 hours, the new browser had been downloaded 2.35 million times which works out at 27 downloads per second.

According to the Microsoft IE9 when launched in beta was downloaded 1 million times within the first 24 hours which makes the 2.35 million a step up in the right direction.

It has a long way to go to catch up to the likes of Chrome from Google and Firefox from Mozilla. What wont help that growth is the lack of Windows XP support which makes IE9 compatible only with Vista or Windows 7 machines.

A video can be found on the Windows Steam Blog which shows the launch event. IE9 can be downloaded from here although note what we earlier mentioned in that it will only work on Vista and Windows 7.
